Holi 2023 Holi is a Hindu Festival.It is the festival of Colour. The festival is celebrated almost all over the India.This festival celebrated in the Spring season.Spring season is called Basanta Rutu in Indian language.It is composed of two month Falguna and Chaitra of Hindu Calendar. This festival is celebrated for two day.In the first day Holika Dahan ( Burning of Holika ) is observed and in the second day Colourfull Holi festival is celebrated.Holika Dahan is observed on Falguna Purnima tithi ( Full moon day ) of Hindu Calendar.The Colourfull Holi festival observes on Chaitra Krishna Paksha Pratipada tithi ( First day of Chaitra month ) of Hindu Calendar. In this year Holika Dahan falls on 7 March 2023 and Holi falls on 8 March 2023 of the Gregorian Calendar.In Holika Dahan a lot of wood are kept in one place for burning. Raja
Sankranti
There
are twelve Sankranti in a year. According to Souramana Calendar Sankranti is
the first day of the month. Raja Sankranti is one of them.It is also known as Mithuna Sankranti.

Raja
Sankranti (Raja Parba) is a festival observed in Odisha state of India. This
festival celebrated in eastern Odisha but the significance of Raja Sankranti is
also present in western Odisha in a different way. The culture of Raja
Sankranti is different in Eastern Odisha and Western Odisha. This festival
generally falls on the June month of Gregorian Calendar. This festival consists
of four days. The first day is called Pahili Raja, second day is called Raja
Sankranti (or Mithuna Sankranti), third day is called Bhumi Dahana and fourth
day is called Basumati Snana. In this year 2023 these days are 14th
June, 15th June.16th June and 17th June respectively in
the above order.
This is a festival of
woman and girls. In Eastern Odisha in this festival woman and girls swing in
doli (English
meaning-a
rope which two end is fixed in a tree).Woman and girls wear new
dress on Raja festival. They use alata (red colour liquid)
in their feet .They sing traditional folk song called Raja Gita when swing on
the doli. Different varieties of doli such as Ram Doli, Charki Doli,Pata Doli
and Dandi Doli are used for swinging. Different varieties of sweets and cakes
are made in every Odia family. People eat Pan (Betel leaf) more in this
festival. Farming is prohibited during the Raja festival.
Boys play different
traditional Indian game in this festival. Different classical dance and folk
dance of Odisha are organized in the night by the people in the village area.
Raja Sankranti is a
